01

Your Day, Your Way

You want to be present on your wedding day, not worrying about whether the photographer is catching the right moments. As a Wellington wedding photographer with 15+ years of experience, I specialise in documentary-style photography that tells the real story of your day: the nervous laughter while getting ready, the tearful first look, the wild dancing at the reception.

My approach is relaxed and unobtrusive. I blend into the background, anticipating moments before they happen, so you can enjoy every second. The result is a gallery that feels natural, joyful, and unmistakably yours.

72-Hour Gallery Delivery

Imagine sharing your wedding photos with family and friends before you have even finished your honeymoon. Couples regularly tell me it is the thing they are most grateful for.

I Know Wellington Venues

After photographing weddings across the Wellington region for 15+ years, I know the city's best venues inside and out. Whether you are planning a garden ceremony at the Wellington Botanic Gardens, a waterfront celebration at The Boatshed, a dramatic reception at Shed 6, or a modern affair at Te Papa, I know the light, the angles, and the hidden spots that make each venue special.

I have worked at nearly every wedding venue in the greater Wellington area, including Wairarapa wine country, Martinborough vineyards, the Kapiti Coast, and the Hutt Valley. That local knowledge means I can help you plan your photography timeline to make the most of your venue and the available light.

Rain or Shine

Wellington weather is famously unpredictable. After 15 years of photographing weddings here, I have seen it all: howling southerlies, surprise downpours, and glorious golden-hour light, sometimes in a single afternoon. Rather than seeing weather as a problem, I treat it as an opportunity.

Some of my most dramatic, atmospheric wedding photos were shot in the rain or wind. I always have backup plans, know where to find shelter with beautiful backdrops, and adapt quickly when conditions change. Your photos will be stunning regardless of what Wellington's weather throws at us.

Flexible Packages

My approach starts well before your wedding day. Every couple gets a pre-wedding consultation where we talk through your vision, timeline, and any must-have shots. I strongly recommend the optional pre-wedding shoot, a relaxed session at a Wellington location of your choice where we get comfortable together.

I offer flexible packages for everything from intimate elopements and registry ceremonies to grand full-day celebrations. Whether you need eight hours of coverage or fourteen-plus hours from bridal prep through to the last dance, there is a package that fits. With Afterpay available, you can spread the cost into four interest-free instalments.

What It Is Like Working With Me

From the first email, my job is to make this feel easy. We start with a relaxed consultation, in person or over a video call, where we talk through your vision, your venue, and the moments that matter most to you. I am not precious about a shot list, but I do want to know if your nan is flying in from overseas or if there is a first-look you have been dreaming about.

On the day, I work quietly and anticipate rather than direct. You will barely notice me during the ceremony and speeches, and when it is time for portraits I keep things light and quick so you can get back to your guests. The aim is simple: for you to look back at your gallery and remember how the day actually felt, not how it was posed.

A Second Pair of Eyes

For many weddings, a single photographer is plenty. But if you have a larger guest list, getting-ready happening in two locations at once, or a venue with a lot of ground to cover, a second shooter earns their place. While I am with one of you during prep, they are with the other; during the ceremony, I capture your faces while they capture the room and the reactions.

A second shooter is available as an add-on and I will give you an honest recommendation rather than an upsell: for an intimate Wellington wedding under around 80 guests in a single venue, you usually will not need one. For a big country-estate celebration with multiple locations, the extra coverage is well worth it. We will work out what is right for your day when we plan your timeline.

Beyond Wellington City

Plenty of the weddings I photograph happen over a hill or up the coast. I travel regularly across the wider region, from the vineyards of the Wairarapa and Martinborough to the Kapiti Coast, the Hutt Valley, and up into Hawke's Bay. Travel within the greater Wellington area is included; for regions further afield a small travel fee may apply, and I will always confirm it upfront.

You can see how I cover each region, with the venues I love and local logistics, on my areas guide. And if you are planning something smaller and more intimate, have a look at my elopement and micro-wedding photography, the same documentary approach, scaled to just the two of you.

Wedding Highlights

Kind words

From couples I’ve photographed.

Absolutely phenomenal! Andy and Ryan captured our wedding day more beautifully than we could have ever imagined. From the very beginning, they made us feel completely comfortable and at ease, blending into the day so naturally while capturing every special moment with heart and creativity. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and artistic eye truly shine through in every photo and video.

Andy was an excellent communicator from the initial contact right to the delivery of our photos. We were thrilled with the photos he captured of our special day. He nailed it! The formal shots were great and the candid ones fabulous also. The way Andy interacted with the family and friends was lovely and he went the extra mile to capture photos that hadn't been planned. His flexibility and attention to detail were greatly appreciated.

Good to know

Frequently asked.

  • Using AI-enhanced editing workflows, I process and deliver your complete wedding gallery within 72 hours of your wedding day. This means you'll be sharing your photos with family and friends while the excitement is still fresh, not waiting 6-8 weeks like most photographers.

  • The pre-wedding shoot is a relaxed session where we get to know each other and you get comfortable in front of the camera. It typically lasts 30-60 minutes at a location of your choice in Wellington. The photos make great save-the-dates or engagement announcements!

  • Yes! I offer combined photo and video packages. Having one photographer handle both means a more cohesive look and feel, plus you only need to coordinate with one person on the day. The wedding video package is $4,250 and includes a cinematic highlight reel.

  • For a full-day wedding, you can expect 400-800+ professionally edited photos. I focus on quality over quantity, and every image in your gallery is carefully edited and colour-corrected using AI-enhanced tools.

  • A second shooter is available as an add-on ($650) and is recommended for weddings with more than 80 guests or multiple ceremony/reception locations. They capture different angles and ensure no moment is missed.

  • My style is documentary and candid. I capture genuine moments as they happen rather than posing everything. That said, I'll guide you through a few key portraits so you have a mix of natural and polished shots. My goal is to tell your story authentically.

  • I have a network of trusted professional photographers in Wellington who can step in at short notice. In the unlikely event I can't attend, I'll arrange a replacement of equal quality at no additional cost.

  • Of course! I'm happy to share full galleries from recent weddings so you can see the complete story, not just the highlight reel. Just get in touch and I'll send you a link.

On the day

How your wedding day flows.

Every wedding is different, but a relaxed full-day timeline often looks something like this. We will shape yours together during your pre-wedding consultation so the light and the photography work around your day, not the other way round.

  1. Late morning

    Getting ready

Relaxed, candid coverage of prep, the details (rings, dress, flowers, invitations), and the quiet anticipation before everything begins. A second shooter, if you have one, is with the other partner at the same time.

  2. Early afternoon

    First look or arrivals

An optional private first look gives you a calm moment together before the ceremony, and almost always makes for some of the most emotional photos of the day. If you would rather wait, I capture the build-up and arrivals instead.

  3. Mid afternoon

    The ceremony

I work unobtrusively from the edges, focused on your faces and the reactions of the people who love you. You will barely know I am there during your vows.

  4. After the ceremony

    Confetti, drinks and family photos

The celebration kicks off with congratulations and canapes. We knock out the formal family groups efficiently, with a shot list agreed in advance, so nobody is standing around and you can get back to your guests.

  5. Golden hour

    Couple portraits

A short, relaxed wander for the two of you while the light is at its best. Fifteen to twenty minutes is usually all it takes, and in Wellington I know where to find shelter with a beautiful backdrop if the weather turns.

  6. Evening

Speeches, first dance and the party

Heartfelt speeches, the cake, the first dance, and the dance floor in full swing. I stay long enough to capture the energy of the night before slipping away.

Prefer something smaller and more intimate? An elopement or micro-wedding follows the same documentary approach on a shorter, more flexible timeline. And wherever in the region you are marrying, my areas guide covers the venues and travel for each part of the wider Wellington region.
